Volvo Penta diagnostics with VODIA
We use VODIA on compatible equipment alongside the mechanical and electrical checks required. Diagnostics are adapted to the engine generation and management system, with the available information assessed in the context of the symptoms and service history.
A fault code can guide the review, but it does not establish the cause: the same alarm can have different origins depending on the installation.
Onboard and workshop support
Maintenance is planned around the model, operating hours, calendar and actual vessel use. Scope and parts are defined according to the equipment and its observed condition.
Repairs and complex work follow the diagnostic findings. Any extension to the agreed scope is reported and requires authorisation.
We regularly serve Barcelona, the Maresme and Tarragona. Enquire about maintenance, diagnostics or repairs for your vessel at Marina Port Vell, Marina Vela or Port Fòrum in the Barcelona area, or at Marina Port Tarraco in Tarragona. We coordinate attendance with the owner, crew or management company according to the work and access requirements.
For vessels at the MB92 Barcelona shipyard, we assess the intervention and scheduling according to the project and the necessary shipyard permissions.
We also maintain and repair superyacht tenders. Depending on the work, we arrange onboard service or assess bringing the tender to our facilities.
Our workshops are at Port Balís, unit 3, and Port Masnou, unit 31. Both locations are open Monday to Friday, 08:00–19:00, and Saturday, 10:00–13:00.
Engines and drives
Volvo Penta service for each equipment family.
We work on current and earlier-generation engines, with particular focus on D8, D11, D13 and IPS. We identify the model, variant and installation before specifying maintenance or repairs.
D8, D11 and D13, alongside D4 and D6
We plan maintenance and investigate faults according to the engine identification, service history and installation condition. The scope follows the applicable manufacturer schedule and the checks required, whether for winter maintenance or repairs.
Compact D1 and D2 engines
We service D1-13, D1-20 and D1-30 engines; D2-40, D2-50, D2-55, D2-60 and D2-75 engines. We identify the installed variant before planning maintenance or assessing a repair.
D3 engines
We work on D3-110, D3-130, D3-140, D3-150, D3-160, D3-170, D3-190, D3-200 and D3-220 engines. The work is adapted to the engine generation, drive and condition of the installation.
KAD, KAMD and TAMD engines
We maintain and repair KAD43, KAD44 and KAD300; KAMD43 and KAMD300; TAMD41, TAMD63, TAMD74 and TAMD75 engines. If you are comparing repair with replacement, we can assess both options.
Volvo Penta petrol engines
We also service Volvo Penta petrol marine engines. Maintenance, diagnostics and repair are adapted to the model, generation and installation.
IPS propulsion systems
We maintain, diagnose and repair Volvo Penta IPS systems. We identify the drive and review its service history before specifying the work. We investigate alarms, vibration or leaks to establish the cause of a fault.
DPI and DPH Aquamatic sterndrives
We maintain and repair DPI and DPH Aquamatic sterndrives according to the model and installation, using procedures distinct from those applicable to IPS systems.
130S and 150S saildrives
We provide maintenance and repair for 130S and 150S saildrives. We identify the drive version and installed engine before preparing the work.
We supply and install Volvo Penta engines. For repowering projects, we offer a free initial assessment and technical study, followed by an engine proposal and a quotation for supply, installation and commissioning.

Common symptoms
Useful information for the diagnostic review.
Note the exact message or code and the conditions under which it appears:
Recurring alarms
Record the displayed message, engine speed and whether it clears after restart.
Irregular starting
State whether the engine cranks, whether it starts and what happened before the fault.
Loss of power
Note the rpm reached and whether the behaviour changes under load.
Overheating
Do not force the vessel to proceed; safely record the visible indication or alarm.
Smoke, noise or vibration
Describe when it occurs and whether it appears to come from the engine or drive.
Controls, trim or transmission
State which manoeuvre is affected and include any associated message.
The description helps us prepare the next step, but it is not a remote diagnosis or confirmation of a repair.
Frequently asked questions
Before requesting a quote
What details do you need to review my Volvo Penta?
Model, serial number if available, approximate hours, vessel location, operational status, symptoms or alarms. We will identify any further information that matters.
Does official maintenance preserve the engine warranty?
Conditions depend on the engine, its age and history. Campaigns or warranty conditions are reviewed only where they apply to the specific unit and work.
Do you support the drive as well as the engine?
Yes. We service IPS systems, DPH and DPI Aquamatic sterndrives and 130S and 150S saildrives. We identify each drive and its installation to specify the applicable maintenance or repairs.
Do you maintain older, compact and petrol engines?
Yes. We service the D1/D2 families and D3 series, the listed KAD/KAMD/TAMD models and Volvo Penta petrol engines, alongside D4/D6/D8/D11/D13 engines. We identify each unit to establish the appropriate work and maintenance requirements.
Do you repair Volvo Penta engines in superyacht tenders?
Yes. We review the engine, propulsion and required work to arrange onboard attendance or assess a transfer to our workshop. Send the tender location, model, alarms or symptoms and available dates. Access and scheduling are confirmed before the intervention.
Do you work at my marina?
Yes. We regularly serve Barcelona, the Maresme and Tarragona. Send the vessel location so we can coordinate access, scope and scheduling for onboard or workshop service.
